The Siam Paragon shopping mall which is located in the heart of Bangkok Thailand, provides an up-market shopping experience for people who yearn for the finer things in life. If your taste in shopping includes exotic brand named luxury goods, then I would highly recommend a visit to this mall. Siam Paragon is conveniently situated in the Pathumwan district next to the other popular shopping outlet known as MBK.
Dubbed the "jewel of Asia" this extravagant retail complex which opened back in 2005 caters to consumers with deep wallets who are interested in having both the latest and most expensive fashion items and motor vehicles.
These high end goods include electronics, jewelry and watches, handbags, clothing, sporting goods, shoes, and luxury cars, which are displayed across a staggering 500,000 square metres and 10 floors of opulent shopping
space making this one of the largest malls in southeast Asia.
This is a mall built specifically for cashed up tourists and wealthy Thai's, so don't expect to find any cheap jeans and T-shirts here. If you are more interested in bargain shopping or some souvenirs to take home from your Thailand vacation then definitely visit the Chatuchak market instead.
At Siam Paragon you will find over 250 international and local shops selling a variety of luxury brands such as Hermes, Jim Thompson, Dior, Prada (see image below), Chanel, Bulgari, Jimmy Choo, Versace, Valentino and Gucci to name several. If luxury cars are of interest to you then you will not be disappointed as BMW, Porsche and Ferrari brands were on display here in 2011 when I visited (see images above).
When I visited this mall in 2011 they also had Ducati motorcycles on display although I am not sure if this is a permanent feature.
Apart from the luxury goods for sale the owners of Siam Paragon have tried to make this mall into a lifestyle centre as it also features a huge bookstore, a Thai art gallery, a bowling alley, a Fitness First Platinum gym, and in true Asian style, a karaoke centre.
Like all Bangkok malls there is also a large food court (including a supermarket) located on the ground floor where you can find a good selection of world class cuisine including Thai. Unlike the consumer goods noted above, the meals for sale in the huge food court are actually very cheap (see image below).
Western fast food is also available such as KFC, McDonalds, and a Starbucks (on level 3) if you are in the mood for a coffee. There is also a Tony Roma's restaurant and a Bangkok Burger Company restaurant located here which also offer western style cuisine. There are also Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Chinese French and Indian restaurants located within the mall so no matter what you taste in food is, you are sure to find something yummy to eat.
However, if shopping is not really your thing then you will be pleased to know that there is also a large 15 screen Major Cineplex movie theatre located on floors 5 and 6 which screen the latest Hollywood films, and of course one of the theatre's is said to be the largest in southeast Asia (see image below).
What really sets this mall apart in my view is the world class aquarium called Siam Ocean World which is situated below ground floor.
WORLD CLASS AQUARIUM
This huge aquarium includes an underwater glass pedestrian tunnel which provides visitors with 260 degree views, and allows you to get close to the sea creatures as they swim within the three Olympic sized swimming pools underwater area.
Within the aquarium, you can view giant gropers, gray nurse sharks, sting rays and giant spider crabs, and there is also a glass bottomed boat for people who wish to have a closer look. For the brave, you can also take a diving tour inside the aquarium.
I visited the Siam Ocean World in 2011 and really enjoyed this added attraction to what is already a fantastic shopping mall. If you happen to visit during the Christmas and New Years period make sure that you shop here after dark because the Christmas light decorations that are set up outside are absolutely first class (see image below).
Siam Paragon Bangkok opens daily between the hours of 10 Am and 10 PM, 7 days a week and is located at 991 Rama 1 Road within the Pathumwan district. Situated in the heart of Bangkok this shopping mall is adjacent to the Siam BTS Skytrain Station.
