Thailand Massage Parlor
'Nana, Patpong And Pataya'

Visiting a good Thailand massage parlor is a priority for many people vacationing in Thailand.  Massage parlors  appear to be  located almost everywhere within the Kingdom of Thailand.  While there are literally thousands of establishments to be found in Bangkok, they are also located in most other cities including Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui, and Hua Hin  just to name a few.

Thai massage is even available at the Koh Samui International Airport which demonstrates just widespread and accepted massage is within Thailand.

BACKGROUND

While massage has been practiced in Thailand for at least 2,500 years, it is known to have been influenced by other countries including China and India and by several techniques that are used within yoga.  Today Thai massage seems to be popular not only due to the known health benefits but also due to the beautiful Thai girls that work within the shops making the Thailand massage parlor an iconic feature especially within the tourist area's of  Pattaya, Patpong and the Nana Entertainment Plaza and Asoke.

NANA ENTERTAINMENT PLAZA

It is easy to find a Thailand massage parlor in the Nana Entertainment Plaza district, particularly along the famous Sukhumvit Road.  In fact, Soi 4,  has become a popular location for Thai massage in recent years probably because this district has also become one of the largest red light districts in Bangkok.

Here you will find an assortment of scantly clad girls standing out the front of various massage shops within a district packed with bars, clubs and hotels.  The area has also become a popular hangout for the Thai ladyboy community (see image below).

From Sois (i.e. side streets) 3-19 you will find an assortment of restaurants, bars and clubs, but the massage parlors will usually be found along more obscure side streets than those found in the heart of Sukhumvit.

Terms like traditional Thai massage, Aroma oil massage, body massage, foot massage, tantra massage, spa and facial treatments, and manicures are terms that are often posted on signs and shop front windows at Nana in the location where the well known Nana Hotel is situated.

However, in the more family friendly parts of Thailand fish massage is also becoming popular; which is where you place your legs and feet into a fish tank and allow the fish to nibble on them.

Massage is a taken quite seriously in Thailand to the point that the country holds the world record for the most number of people being massaged simultaneously.  In 2012 over 600 couples in Bangkok performed traditional Thai massage at the same time for a period of 7 minutes (see image below).

Probably, the main reason the Thailand massage parlor has become so popular for tourists is due to the low price of massage within Thailand; it is very cheap by western standards and hence they are very well frequented by overseas guests.  For example, a foot massage will cost around 250 Thai baht per hour in most Bangkok massage shops while an oil massage will usually cost between 350-500 Thai baht per hour.

Most massage shops in the larger cities will open around 10 AM daily but closing times vary between 10 PM-2 AM.

The Thailand massage parlor is unique in that they cater to the tastes of most people, thus whether you are simply looking for a shoulder massage or a complete beauty treatment you are sure to find a suitable shop whether you are staying in Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui or Pattaya.  Most resorts in Thailand now offer massage and spa treatments but you normally pay quite a bit more at the high end establishments and resorts.

I have compiled a short list of Thailand massage parlors that are presently open within several different regions of Thailand including those which provide oil massage.
